The Senate on Tuesday has confirmed the nomination of Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju as the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NARSDA).

The confirmation was sequel to the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology submitted by its Chairman, Senator Iya Aminu Abbas, (PDP, Adamawa Central).

According to Abbas, the screening of the nominee was conducted by the Committee following the referral by the Senate in line with the parliamentary rules, after the nominee’s name was forwarded by President Bola Tinubu.

He added that the nominee has the requisite qualifications and experience to lead the agency.

In seeking the Senators’ approval, Abbas said there was no petition or any encumbrances that would have stopped the Committee from recommending him.

The confirmation of Adepoju as the Director General of NARSDA was therefore unanimously pronounced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio through a voice vote.

Akpabio commended the Committee Chairman for a detailed report, saying that “it was his service to the 10th Senate and Nigeria as a whole.”
