Bauchi Gov’t Suspends 6 Workers Over Alleged Theft Of Construction Materials

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has suspended six of its workers from the state service over allegation bordering on serious misconduct and theft.

The suspended officers were alleged to have either sold or converted government properties removed from the ongoing construction of bridge and flyovers at Wunti and Central Market within Bauchi metropolis.

A statement issued by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Saleh Umar on Friday in Bauchi, said the workers were suspended under Section 0331 of the State Public Service Regulations to allow relevant authorities investigate the reported misconducts made against them.

Serious wrongdoing and improper behaviors are in contravention of Section 0327 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations.

The statement identified the affected staff as those with the State Ministry of Works and Transport that were attached to the State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA).

They include Mohammed Musa Saye, chief store officer; Ado Abba Pali, senior technical officer, Danladi Noma, senior fireman; Garba Nuhu, senior works superintendent, Ibrahim Inuwa and Uzairu Mudi both technical assistant electrical, respectively.

The PRO said the Commission considered the suspension during its valedictory sitting, being the 41st plenary session on Thursday with their suspension effective from November, 14 2024.

In another development, the Commission considered the acting appointment of a deputy director planning from the rank of Chief Planning Officer, and promoted 79 deserving officers, converted 3 staff in environmental health, executive cadres from Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) and the State Drugs Consumables Management Agency.

Also, two nursing officers, Rakiya Musa and Ibrahim Muhammad Lawan were reinstated into the state civil service.

Furthermore, the Commission also ordered the Management of the Bauchi Radio Corporation to resubmit authentic recommendations of senior staff promotion which must include a petitioner, Bashir Idris, who was sidelined by the Radio House.
