The brand, known for its handcrafted furniture and unique design philosophy, offers Nigerian customers a taste of world-class craftsmanship.

Speaking at the launch event over the weekend, Jude Leach, Managing Director and Global Head of Training and Development for Timothy Oulton highlighted the significance of the Lagos gallery, which will become the company’s 42nd location worldwide.

“This gallery is a major milestone for us,” Leach said. “It is our 42nd globally and our first in West and Central Africa. We are thrilled to bring our unique designs and heritage to Lagos, a city that mirrors our creativity, luxury, and innovation ethos.”

Leach emphasised that Timothy Oulton’s furniture is crafted with a commitment to traditional techniques, upcycling, and sustainable materials.

“All our products are handmade, using simple tools, premium materials, and time-honoured techniques,” Leach explained. “For example, one of our centre tables is made from original 60 to 70-year-old propellers salvaged from Chinese fishing boats, giving them an antique and archival quality. Every piece tells a story. For instance, our iconic Tomcat Chair draws inspiration from the F-14 fighter jet used during the Vietnam War. At the same time, its exterior is reminiscent of the Spitfire aircraft from the British World War era.”

Leach also pointed to lighting pieces inspired by installations from historic schools in England, illustrating the brand’s dedication to embedding narratives in its designs.

Addressing pricing concerns, Leach assured potential Nigerian customers that Timothy Oulton is committed to maintaining a globally competitive pricing strategy.

“We strive for fairness in pricing across all our global locations,” she said. “Whether in New York, London, or Lagos, you’ll find very similar pricing structures. However, our Nigerian partners have offered even more competitive rates than other locations like the UK, ensuring our furniture remains accessible to our customers here.”

Stevie Kim, Global Partner Manager for Timothy Oulton, expressed excitement about the brand’s expansion into Africa through the Lagos gallery.

“This is our first partner gallery in West and Central Africa and currently the only one on the continent,” Kim noted. “We have 19 partners across 20 countries, and we’re proud to collaborate with our local partners, Chiedu Nwokolo and Chimazuru Nnadi-Oforgu, to make this dream a reality. We believe this is the start of a beautiful journey, and we anticipate expanding our footprint across Africa in the coming years.”
