Nestlé Professional, the Out-of-Home business arm of Nestlé Nigeria, and a leading provider of food solutions, is taking a bold step in championing affordable nutrition to alleviate the impact of harsh economic conditions on Nigerians.
As part of this effort, the company recently introduced an affordable nutrition option, Maggi Soya Chunks, a texturized soy-based protein, provides affordable and balanced nutrition, with one pack containing enough protein for eight people, during the Lagos edition of the Business of Food workshop. The workshop brought together food vendors, chefs, and event planners, showcasing how innovative solutions can enhance their businesses and promote healthier eating habits in their communities.
Speaking at the event, the Business Manager for Nestlé Professional in Nigeria, Mrs. Funmi Osineye, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering local food vendors with tools and knowledge. “At Nestlé Professional, we are dedicated to supporting food vendors to thrive despite the economic challenges. With the introduction of Maggi Soya Chunks, we aim to provide an affordable and nutritious alternative that supports their businesses and promotes healthier lifestyles across our communities,” she said.
Osineye also assured participants of Nestlé Professional’s unwavering support for the growth of food businesses in Nigeria. “Our goal is to uplift the local food industry, foster entrepreneurship, and create a positive impact in communities,” she added.
To further equip participants with essential skills, Osaretin Okao, Managing Director of Food Bizz Support Services, provided training during the event. She urged food vendors to embrace innovation and adapt to the evolving economic landscape. “Running a successful food business requires adaptability and the willingness to explore new opportunities. Affordable and nutritious options like Maggi Soya Chunks not only improve the quality of offerings but also ensure profitability and sustainability,” Okao said.
Food vendors, including canteens, grillers, maishais, and bukas, play a critical role in meeting the daily nutritional needs of Nigeria’s urban populations. However, they often face significant challenges in maintaining profitability while offering adequate nutrition amidst rising costs.
The Business of Food series, now in its ninth edition, has empowered over 2,000 food business vendors across nine states with practical skills and knowledge to grow their businesses and increase their income. This year’s edition emphasized the benefits of Maggi Soya Chunks, a cost-effective, nutritious, and flavorful protein alternative.
Through initiatives like this, Nestlé Professional reinforces its dedication to fostering a resilient and sustainable food industry, even in challenging times.
