The Kwara State government has announced the revocation of year 2024 signage and billboard licences across the state.

The government had recently suspended billboard licences.

The secretary of the state Task Force Committee on Illegal billboards and signage, Ibrahim Garba, warned in a statement yesterday that “identifications are ongoing and removal enforcement will commence, beginning this week. ”

Garba stated that the revocation order was necessary, to facilitate the removal of all unauthorised and improperly erected billboards, posters and light pole banners across Ilorin metropolis and other urban centres.

He explained that the initiative aligns with the urban renewal programme of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration, aimed at transforming Kwara into a modern and visually appealing state.

He added, ” No new registrations or renewals of signage and billboard licenses will be processed until further notice. This temporary measure will allow the state to finalise a new regulatory framework for outdoor advertising.”
