The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has entered into a strategic partnership with edtech firm SimplifiedIQ to launch a fully digital, AI-driven certification examination system by June 2025.

Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the registrar general of CIPMN, Henry Ifeanyi Mbadiwe, said the collaboration marks a major step in the Institute’s broader digitalisation drive, with current emphasis on examination development and result processing.

“This is part of a wider digitalisation process that CIPMN is currently working on,” Mbadiwe said. “What we are keen on is making sure that we successfully deliver this particular section of setting exams and questions.”

He said CIPMN aims to introduce a dynamic and creative approach to examination development using artificial intelligence, which will enable faster and more secure testing procedures while freeing up human resources for strategic initiatives.

“We want to have a more dynamic way of setting exams, and also have a more creative way of doing it. That is why we are introducing artificial intelligence, to help us achieve that easily,” he said. “With AI, these results are marked free from any kind of human influence in terms of the outcome and then delivered to the individuals.”

Mbadiwe said the new system will help prevent examination leakages and ensure that assessment processes are streamlined, fair, and tamper-proof.

He also disclosed that CIPMN aims to grow its membership base to at least 5,000 professionals on the platform by next year, adding that the Institute is strengthening partnerships with Nigerian universities.

“As I said earlier, CIPMN created the first-ever curriculum for project management in Nigerian universities,” he said. “We need to ensure that the right exam for the right level, for the right category, and for the right licence is created quickly.”

He emphasised that high-quality assessments are critical to shaping the learning process and ultimately determining the calibre of certified project managers.

“So, the quality of assessment that we are going to design and produce is what will ultimately inform the quality of learning that they need to have. So yes, it will definitely improve the quality of project managers produced in Nigeria,” he said.

On his part, the founder of SimplifiedIQ, Sam Obi, said the company is proud to partner with CIPMN in its digital transformation journey. “At SimplifiedIQ, our mission is to simplify and optimise assessment workflows for institutions, empowering them to focus on driving success stories,” he said.

Obi noted that the agreement affirms CIPMN’s commitment to modernising its certification systems using cutting-edge tools that prioritise efficiency, integrity, and excellence.

“Our collaboration with CIPMN reflects a shared commitment to raising professional standards in Nigeria and beyond,” Obi added. “We are proud to equip CIPMN with the tools to deliver faster, more secure, and higher-quality assessments that ultimately benefit candidates and the broader project management community.”
