In a commendable effort that demonstrates corporate responsibility and community engagement, LG Electronics Nigeria has inaugurated a solar-powered borehole in the Illah community of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State.

This initiative significantly enhances access to clean and safe water for hundreds of residents.
As part of LG’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, this project is more than an infrastructural improvement; it symbolises compassion and a commitment to improving the quality of life for local communities.

For years, the residents of Illah have faced the challenges of obtaining water from distant or unsafe sources, often jeopardising their health and safety.

The corporate marketing manager at LG Electronics Nigeria, Mr. Paul Mba said, “we believe that innovation must be coupled with compassion.

We are proud to provide not just water, but a sustainable solution powered by renewable energy.”

He emphasised, “today, we celebrate not only the launch of a borehole, but also the restoration of hope, health, and dignity. Water is essential for life, and by offering it through sustainable means, we honour our commitment to both the Illah community and to environmental stewardship.”

LG Electronics said “it has long dedicated itself to enhancing lives across Nigeria, making strategic investments in education, health, rural development, and environmental initiatives. This project exemplifies LG’s transition from being merely a technology provider to a proactive community partner and change agent.”

Public relations & CSR manager, Mr. Moses Osime
added, “we aim to be more than just a presence in stores and showrooms. We want to make a tangible impact in classrooms, health centres, and now, through every glass of clean water served in Illah.”

Ogbuenyi Udu, a representative from Illah Palace, commented, “today marks a significant milestone for our community. After years of seeking assistance, LG has answered our prayers. Our children can now access clean water, our women are relieved, and our community can lead healthier lives.”

President general of the Illah Development Union of Nigeria (IDUN) Worldwide, Ogbuenyi Nwegbu
expressed gratitude, saying, “this borehole is a lasting gift for our children and generations to come. We are sincerely thankful and hope other organisations will follow LG’s exemplary path.”

Community leader, John Azike remarked, “this initiative provides more than just water; it brings life derived from the sun. LG has not only quenched our thirst but also revitalised our belief in a future where businesses prioritise the well-being of communities.”

LG’s endeavour in Illah forms part of a larger initiative aimed at uplifting underserved communities across Nigeria. Through dedicated investments in health, education, clean energy, and now water access, the company continues to demonstrate that commercial success and social impact can coexist harmoniously.
