Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have foiled a robbery attempt in Zone E Extension area of Apo Resettlement in Abuja.

The incident, which occurred around 10:30pm on June 23, 2025, left three persons injured, with one victim later confirmed dead.

Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said policemen acted on a distress call from a commercial motorcycle rider, who reported heavy gunfire in the area on the fateful day.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Apo Division, CSP Uchenna Igwebuike, immediately deployed Ambush and Surveillance Teams to the scene. A reinforcement led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Isyaku Sharu, also joined, forcing the assailants to flee after a gun duel.

The police explained that three victims injured by the attackers were taken to Sahad Hospital, Apo. One later succumbed to his injuries. A light green Toyota Corolla with plate number GWA 620 AU was recovered from the scene.
