Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) has told its members engaging in unethical acts to be prepared for severe penalties, such as withdrawal of their practice licenses and the publication of their names in the newspapers.

The national chairman of the association, Dabiri Thomas, issued the threat at the swearing-in of the Mathew Edokor-led Executive Council in Calabar, the Cross River State capital yesterday.

While emphasising the association’s commitment to upholding professional standards, Dabiri threatened license withdrawal for members found guilty of unprofessional practice and the publication of names in the newspapers to shame them and prosecution of quacks and impostors

He also vowed to take decisive actions against individuals claiming to be surveyors when they are not.

“We will ensure quacks parading themselves with fake papers are thrown into jail,” Dabiri warned.

He, therefore, urged the members to adhere strictly to professional ethics, rules, and regulations so as not to run afoul of the law.

In his speech, Edokor cautioned residents of the state against falling prey to impostors issuing fake survey plans to them to avoid being ripped off their hard-earn money.

Edokor pledged to work diligently to ensure professionalism in the industry.

He advised the residents not to accept backdated survey papers, declaring them as fake and unacceptable.

“If you are holding something that you call a backdated survey, know that you have fake papers. And so we want to encourage Cross Riverians to do due diligence. Don’t deceive yourself and say, give me a backdated survey,” he warned.
