Law Students Honour PPDC

The Lawgistics Mentoring Community has honoured the Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC) with its Most Strategic Impact and Partnership Award, recognising its unwavering dedication to accountability and civic engagement in Nigeria.

Lawgistics, a pan-African community comprising over 1,800 law students and professionals, commended PPDC for its consistent efforts in empowering organisations across sectors.

Speaking during the presentation of the awards yesterday at the PPDC headquarters in Abuja, founder and CEO of Lawgistics, Barrister Samuel C. Chukwu, described the recognition as well-deserved.
He noted that PPDC’s work in driving transparency and collaboration sets a benchmark for civic actors in Nigeria.

“The PPDC has shown that accountability in this space cannot be achieved alone.

“They’ve demonstrated time and again that civic partnerships are essential to transforming society,”said Chukwu.

He added that the award was not just a celebration of past efforts but a call to deepen partnerships and build stronger civic infrastructure across the country.

The chief executive officer of PPDC, Lucy Abagi, was also individually honoured as the “Most Collaborative Leader in NGO,” for her leadership and openness to innovation.

In her remarks, Abagi said the centre’s success stems from its focus on collaboration rather than competition.

“Development doesn’t happen in isolation.

“You cannot fix all of Nigeria’s problems alone — partnership is the bedrock of development,”she said .

Abagi highlighted PPDC’s extensive network, including more than 200 pro bono lawyers, 11 law clinics, and collaborations with over 50 police stations across 10 Nigerian states.

She also emphasised the importance of youth-led justice innovations, saying young people were at the heart of PPDC’s mission.

“We don’t joke with the work young people are doing across Nigeria and Africa,” she noted.

According to her, PPDC is also working closely with government institutions, including ministries, attorneys-general, and chief judges, in its quest to advance justice and governance.

“We believe strongly in engaging government — we can’t solve the problems we face without that partnership,” she added.
