The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended six suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms from the suspects.

The arrests followed coordinated operations by the Police across parts of the Kaduna and Zamfara States.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, the breakthrough was achieved through swift response to a distress report lodged on February 22, 2025.

DSP Hassan said the report was lodged by a resident of Ungwan Ninzom in Jagindi Tasha of Jema’a local government area, after his son, Hussaini Ibrahim, was abducted by gunmen.

Following the report, Hassan said police operatives from Kafanchan Division were mobilised to the scene and began a manhunt for the kidnappers.

He added that although the suspects initially escaped arrest, the victim was rescued two days later from a nearby bush with a gunshot injuries on his leg which was treated at a clinic and reunited with his family.

Subsequent, the PPRO said investigations led to the arrest of four suspects named as Umar Yusuf Jabiri, 30 years; Buhari Muhammad a.k.a. “General”, 31; Ahmadu Nasiru, 51, and Zakari Saleh, 50, all residents of Jagindi Tasha and Gidan Waya.

He revealed that police operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle and three locally fabricated versions from the suspects.

In a related development, and acting on credible intelligence, detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, led by CSP Sani Zuntu, intercepted a suspicious waybill on July 23, 2025.
