The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Umar Yakassai, has commended President Bola Tinubu for helping Nigerians to save the naira from becoming completely worthless.
According to him, the president prevented a situation where Nigerians would have needed wheelbarrows or trucks to carry money just to buy a loaf of bread.
He stated this in Enugu during the launch of the South East Movement for Tinubu 2027.
Yakassai said that before Tinubu’s intervention, Nigeria was printing naira notes in trillions just to pay salaries.
He maintained that if the president had not introduced his financial policies, the naira would have lost so much value that people would have needed wheelbarrows or trucks to make basic purchases.
He noted that before the president’s intervention, Nigeria was borrowing money to pay for fuel subsidies, adding that a large percentage of the national budget was used to service debts.
The TSG Director-General, however, said the situation has now been reversed by the president, adding that his reforms have started yielding positive results.
Yakassai also commended Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for the good work he is doing in the state.
Earlier, the Interim National Chairman of the South East Movement for Tinubu 2027, Prof. Damian Opata, explained that the association is a political interest and pressure group dedicated to ensuring President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
He stated that members of the group are drawn from different political parties and unions committed to delivering victory for Tinubu in 2027.
Opata commended the president for his swift decisions to remove fuel subsidy and float the naira, describing the moves as revolutionary and already producing positive results.
He also thanked Governor Mbah for his support, as well as all participants who took time to attend the event.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the interim national chairman and state chairmen of the movement in the South East.
