Former Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang, has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plathe state for conducting a peaceful congress to elect its new officials.

He said it is was a milestone in the party’s journey to the 2027 general election.

LEADERSHIP reports that Chief Raymond Dabo was elected as chairman of the State Executives Council (SEC) of PDP at the weekend.

Jang, who represented Plateau North in the National Assembly, hailed Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the state for his leadership and dedication to ensuring a free, fair, and credible congress for their great party.

Jang, in a statement issued in Jos by his media consultant Mr. Clinton Garuba, said Mutfwang’s commitment to democratic principles and party unity has been crucial in achieving this.

He said it is also noteworthy that his efforts have fostered an atmosphere of trust and confidence, reflecting the trust placed in him by the people of Plateau State.

“This Congress, widely regarded as peaceful and where all candidates emerged largely through consensus, demonstrates the strong bond between Governor Mutfwang and the people of Plateau State.”

According to the statement, the impressive turnout of party supporters in their thousands indicates that the people who voted him into office in 2023 remain firmly behind him and will again support him in 2027.

Jang, a founding father of the PDP, thanked the immediate past executives led by Chris Hassan for their focused and purposeful leadership.

He also congratulates the new PDP executives, led by Chief Raymond Dabo, and looks forward to their collaboration with Governor Mutfwang to advance the party’s agenda and serve Plateau State.

“The success of this Congress is a testament to Governor Mutfwang’s vision and the people’s mandate. We are confident that Plateau State will continue to thrive under his leadership and assure him of unwavering support to deepen democracy within our party and Plateau State at large, he said.
