The Association of Former All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Members has called for greater inclusion of its members in the current administration, while reaffirming its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

In a communiqué issued after its leadership meeting held in Abuja, the group expressed concern over what it described as the non-inclusion of former ANPP members in federal appointments and decision-making since the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the National Coordinator of the association, Prof. Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, stated that the ANPP bloc, which played a significant role in the merger that gave rise to the APC, had not been adequately represented in government positions.

“During our last meeting of July 28, 2025, we made certain demands from our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for consideration and approval,” Ajumbe said.

Among the group’s significant demands are the appointment of its members as board chairmen, ambassadors, ministers, and heads of government agencies; the preservation of the vice-presidential slot for the ANPP bloc as the second-largest contributor to the APC merger; and a commitment that power should shift to the ANPP bloc after Tinubu’s tenure expires in 2031, in the spirit of fairness and equity. While awaiting the President’s response, the group resolved to strengthen its structures nationwide to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The communiqué further revealed that the association plans to mobilise members across the 774 local government areas to hold regular meetings ahead of the 2027 elections.
