The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N642.9 billion into law.

The passage of the law followed the presentation of a report by the Joint Committee on Finance and Appropriation and that of Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning and Due Process of the Assembly, chaired by Hon Adamu Muhammad.

Presenting his report on the floor of the House during the plenary session presided over by the speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, Muhammad said, the budget underwent a rigorous scrutiny as the committee invited all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the state government to defend their budgetary proposals.

He added that this process led to certain adjustments aimed at ensuring prudent management of public resources, enhancing smooth implementation, and guaranteeing judicious utilisation of the budget.

The committee chairman revealed that the adjustments made were in line with the current administration’s vision to promote the welfare of the citizenry.

He said the committee also extended invitations to coalition groups of civil society organisations to provide their input, fostering transparency and inclusiveness in the budget approval process.

The chairman said the recurrent revenue stands at NN163.57 billion representing 25 per cent of the proposed budget, while the capital revenue stands at N479.4 billion representing 75 per cent of the proposed budget.

Muhammad stated that the total figure of the budget is N642,930,818,157.99 as presented by the governor.

He urged the House to consider the report alongside the bill and pass it into law for onward transmission to the governor for assent.

The speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, read for the third time the bill, alongside the report and passed it into law.
