The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has described the death of the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as a major loss to the state and the nation at large.

In a statement issued by its director of media and strategic communications, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi yesterday, the NGF said it was deeply saddened by the passing of the deputy governor who reportedly collapsed earlier in the day and was later confirmed dead on Thursday.

The forum noted that Ewhrudjakpo was a dedicated public servant who served Bayelsa State with commitment, vision and a strong sense of duty.
Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said the late deputy governor’s life and service reflected his passion for good governance and the welfare of his people.

“His unwavering commitment to good governance, social justice and the welfare of his people stood as a testament to his character and leadership. His contributions to the development of Bayelsa State and its people will be fondly remembered,” AbdulRazaq said.

According to the NGF, Ewhrudjakpo’s values and dedication to public service were exemplary and would remain indelible to his friends, colleagues and those who worked closely with him.

The forum expressed condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State, describing the death as an irreparable loss.
