Lekki Gardens Founder Gets Fourth National Honour In 4 Years

Founder and chief executive officer of Lekki Gardens Group, Dr. Richard Nyong, has received his fourth major national recognition in four consecutive years with the conferment of an Honorary Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FN/NIQS).

According to the organisers, the fellowship was awarded in recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s real estate sector, including housing delivery, job creation and urban development.

Dr. Nyong, is the founder and chief executive officer of Lekki Gardens Group, a real estate development company established in 2012 with a focus on addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit. The company has delivered over 20,000 housing units across Lagos, Ogun, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory, with more than 25,000 additional units in development across 60 ongoing projects.

Reacting to the award, Dr. Nyong said the recognition reflects the role of the private sector in national development. He said his focus remains on scaling affordable housing delivery, increasing youth employment and strengthening professionalism in the real estate industry.

Industry observers note that Lekki Gardens’ projects span major urban growth corridors and contribute to discussions on housing infrastructure, urban planning and economic inclusion.

The latest honour adds to a series of recognitions received by Dr. Nyong within a four-year period. They include the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) conferred by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022, an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Port Harcourt, a chieftaincy title conferred by the Oba of Epe, and the Honorary Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors in 2025. Born on May 28, 1981, in Lagos, Dr. Nyong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Doctor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Port Harcourt. He serves on the boards of several companies across Africa and is involved in philanthropy and youth development initiatives.
