A fatal accident involving an 18-seater bus travelling from Enugu State to Abuja has resulted in the death of four persons while seven other sustained varying degrees of injury.

According to an eyewitness, who confided in our reporter, the accident occured at about 4am on Sunday, when the 18-seater bus rammed into a stationary articulated vehicle on the Itobe-Ajaokuta Road, opposite the a popular ceramic company.

The source attributed the accident to over-speeding, adding that the driver of the bus with registration number ABC 232 XA must have equally dozed off as a result of tiredness due to the long night journey

“I can say that the driver must have slept off due to tiredness arising from the long night journey. From the impact, one can also say that there was over-speeding,” he said.

He added that the deceased persons have been deposited at a nearby morgue, while the injured persons were already receiving treatment in an undisclosed medical facility in Ajaokuta LGA of Kogi State.
