Thirteen journalists from various media organisations were, on Friday, involved in a ghastly road accident while covering the commissioning of projects executed by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) in Bauchi State.
The journalists were part of an NEDC delegation led by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, for the handover of some NEDC completed projects to the Bauchi State government.
The accident occurred along the Yashi-Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi State, shortly after the delegation commissioned a Government Secondary School (GSS) project in Yelwan Duguri.
Some of the journalists were injured, with some of them having compound fractures, head injuries, and bruises.
They were initially taken to Yelwan Duguri Cottage Hospital for emergency treatment and later evacuated to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for proper medical care.
