The National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State will henceforth provide security in mosques and churches during the Friday prayers and Sunday services, respectively.

The new state commandant of NSCDC, Mr Bala Bawa Bodinga, disclosed this while speaking with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin.

Bodinga said the decision to provide security for worshippers during the Friday Jumma’at prayer session and Sunday church service was part of measures designed to protect lives and property across the state.

Bodinga also disclosed that the NSCDC operatives would be engaged in 24-hour surveillance and patrol of every part of the state to check the activities of criminals.

He added that deliberate efforts would be made to protect vital state and national infrastructure assets across the state.

“Since I took over, there has never been a night without troop presence. My operators maintain 24-hour surveillance to safeguard lives and property,” he stated.

“Henceforth, all Friday Jumma’at Mosques and Churches will receive adequate security coverage,” he added.

Bodinga, who harped on the importance of collaboration between security agencies, said: “I am in active contact with service heads across the state. Together, we share intelligence and strategies, strengthening proactive security measures for the state.”

On modernising the Corps, Bodinga emphasised training and equipment upgrades for officers, adding that: “Our operators are being technically and professionally trained to meet modern security challenges.”

He called for more support from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to boost operational efficiency even as he praised journalists for their role in national security awareness.
