The England captain returned from an ankle injury to start at the Santiago Bernabéu and scored, taking him to within one goal of 50 for the German giants.
Kompany praised Kane’s resilience, revealing he had played “beyond the pain threshold”, though there were no adverse effects the following day.
Bayern are now favourites to reach the semi-finals, where they could face either Paris Saint-Germain or Liverpool FC.
