The International Coaching Federation Nigeria Charter Chapter (ICF Nigeria) is set to convene business leaders and policy actors in Lagos to examine growing leadership challenges facing organisations, and the role of coaching in improving performance and decision-making.
The conference, scheduled for 12th May, 2026, is part of the activities marking the 2026 International Coaching Week and will be held at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is expected to bring together chief executives, human resource professionals and development experts.
The chairman of African Capital Alliance and former minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, is expected to deliver the keynote address, focusing on how coaching frameworks can strengthen leadership effectiveness and improve investment outcomes.
The organisers said the event comes amid growing concerns over leadership burnout, weak team engagement, and declining decision quality in organisations, which they said continue to affect productivity and growth.
The Director of Marketing and Communications, ICF Nigeria, Patrenia Werts Onuoha, said organisations are increasingly adopting coaching as a strategic tool to address leadership gaps and improve performance.
“Coaching is no longer a ‘nice-to-have.’ It is a strategic lever for performance,” she said.
Onuoha added that the conference would offer practical insights for leaders seeking to build resilient, high-performing teams.
Sessions scheduled for the event will cover areas such as artificial intelligence and digital coaching, mental resilience in leadership, scaling entrepreneurial ventures and embedding coaching in corporate culture.
Facilitators include Emmanuel Michael, Special Adviser to the President on Finance and the Economy, and Eko Hotels & Suites; Sanyade Okoli; and business consultant Ted Theodore.
The organisers said the conference would also provide networking opportunities and post-event coaching support for participating organisations.
The Nigerian charter of the International Coaching Federation, which marked its 10th anniversary in 2025, said it remains committed to promoting professional coaching standards and leadership development across sectors.
