The Kaduna State Government has reiterated its commitment to development across all parts of the state as Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, formally declared his intention to seek re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, stated this on Saturday while representing Governor Uba Sani at the senator’s campaign inauguration held at the Kafanchan New Township Stadium in Jema’a Local Government Area.

Balarabe said the state government remained committed to inclusive governance and equitable development across the three senatorial districts.

According to her, the administration was focused on projects and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

She said Southern Kaduna had continued to benefit from development interventions through collaboration between the state and federal governments.

The deputy governor also urged residents to maintain unity and peaceful political engagement as the country moves toward another election cycle.

She called on political actors to avoid divisive politics and focus on issues capable of promoting development.

Speaking at the event, Katung said he was seeking another term based on what he described as his legislative record and constituency projects.

The senator said his representation had focused on attracting development projects and improving access to education, healthcare, infrastructure and youth empowerment programmes in Southern Kaduna.

He cited projects including the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, installation of solar streetlights, ICT and vocational training for youths, and support programmes for farmers.

Katung also said more than ₦2bn worth of projects had been captured for Kaduna South in the 2026 budget.

He called for continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, saying cooperation across different levels of government was necessary for development.

Also speaking, the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Dan Amos, expressed support for Katung’s second-term bid, citing projects executed across the senatorial district.

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Audu Amba, who represented the chairman of the occasion, Senator Babangida Husseini, stressed the importance of education and human capital development in governance.

The event ended with calls for peaceful political participation and continued investment in socio-economic development in Southern Kaduna.
