Billionaire businesswoman, Apostle Folorunso Alakija, at the weekend celebrated her 75th birthday with a grand thanksgiving service in Lagos, where she unveiled six new books.
The event attracted an array of distinguished guests from across Nigeria’s political, business and religious circles. Those in attendance included former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Mr Olayemi Cardoso; Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari; chairman of Heirs Holdings, Mr Tony Elumelu and several other eminent personalities.
The celebration featured worship, prayers, documentary tributes and reflections on Apostle Alakija’s journey through ministry, philanthropy, entrepreneurship and mentorship. The official presentation of six new books was described as a continuation of her lifelong commitment to teaching and spiritual guidance.
The six books are: “Still in Love at 80 and Beyond; Navigating the Realities of Marriage; Love Questions, Honest Answers; Love With Your Eyes Open; Marriage Playbook: Gems for Married Couples; Two Hearts, One Lifetime and Breaking News: Back to Sender Prayers—God Said, Who Sent You?”
Five of the books focus on relationships, marriage and family life.
The sixth encourages believers to exercise spiritual discernment while remaining grounded in the truth of God’s Word.
Speaking during the presentation, Apostle Alakija said the books were inspired by her desire to share the lessons God had taught her over the years. “God has been gracious to me throughout every season of my life,” she said. “Whatever lessons I have learned are gifts of His grace, and I believe they should be shared. If these books encourage even one person to trust God more deeply, strengthen a marriage, make a wiser decision or remain faithful through life’s challenges, then they have fulfilled their purpose.”
Guests at the thanksgiving were treated to reviews of each publication before the official unveiling. Reviewers highlighted the books’ practical relevance and their contribution to conversations on healthy families, spiritual growth, leadership and Christian living.
The celebration featured a vibrant praise and worship session led by gospel saxophonist Beejay Sax, as the celebrant danced joyfully with members of her family. The spiritual atmosphere was further enriched by a Bible reading delivered by her grandson. Pastors Tolu Odukoya and J.T. Kalejaye officiated at the service, with Kalejaye delivering a sermon on the significance of praising God. Gospel artistes Dare Justified, Chigozie Wisdom and Tosin Bee also ministered in song, adding colour and inspiration to the thanksgiving celebration.
