2 Kwarans Emerge Runners-up At Qur’an Recitation Competition

Two members of Kwara State’s contingent to the just concluded National Qur’an Recitation Competition in Gusau, Zamfara State emerged runners-up in two categories of the competition.

Mariyam Issa-Onilu won the second position in 10 hizb female category while Sherifdeen Zakariyah Akorede also won second position in 20 hizb male category.

The spokesman of the Qur’an Recitation Committee in Kwara State, Imam Nuhu Abass, said all the remaining competitors also performed wonderfully at the event in Gusau.

The state’s contingent returned to Ilorin, the state capital on Tuesday via Green Africa Airline. Abass expressed the committee’s gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for their moral and financial support, especially the airlifting of competitors and officials to and from Gusau.

He hailed the fatherly role of the chairman of the state’s committee on Quran recitation competition, Alhaji Shehu AbdulGafar before and after the competition.

Abbas also commended all the members of the committee and coordinators of the 16 local government areas in the state for their commitment, support and cooperation throughout their stay in Gusau.
