Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 6 kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to a statement on Sunday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the rescue occurred on 22 August 2026 during a fighting patrol by troops of Sector 2.

Troops responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted 6 occupants along the road.
On arrival, the troops made contact and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower.

The terrorists fled into nearby bushes, abandoning their captives. During exploitation of the area, all 6 victims were rescued unharmed. Troops also recovered the ₦800,000 earlier collected from them, as well as the vehicle.

The money and vehicle were handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.

In a separate operation on 21 August 2026, Sector 2 troops encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara LGA. The troops engaged them, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray. During follow-up exploitation, one motorcycle was recovered.

The Joint Task Force said it remains committed to sustaining aggressive patrols and offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and to protect lives and property in the North West.

“The Theatre appreciates the continued support of members of the public and urges communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces in support of ongoing operations,” the statement added.
