A socio-cultural organisation, the Ijaw Wari Worldwide (IWW), has declared its support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Sir Siminalaye Fubara.

It therefore, called on all Ijaw groups in the state, including the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), to vote massively for Fubara during the governorship election.

Speaking during an event in Port Harcourt yesterday, IWW president-general, Somina Wokoma, described the PDP governorship candidate as “the unifier of Rivers State.”

Wokoma said: “Bearing in mind that 2023 gubernatorial race is not a fight for any individual or one particular ethnic nationality in the Rivers Ijaw extraction, but a Rivers Ijaw for Rivers Brick House 2023.

“Our focus is victory, our interest is achieving victory, our support is for our victory. But, shocking, our fathers have refused to speak the truth to achieve victory. Sentiment, the agent of failure has captured their minds; they are no longer bold to speak to their own consciousness.

“No one Rivers Ijaw is more Rivers Ijaw than the other. Rivers Ijaw is Rivers Ijaw. Supporting a Rivers Ijaw gubernatorial candidate with, by the grace of God, 80 percent sure of victory, should not be a challenge to any Rivers Ijaw man, woman, youth, elder, chief or king.”
