Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) have metered about 8.05 million of the 12.75 million active electricity customers as of August 2026, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has said.

The figures contained in the commission’s July and August 2026 factsheet on the metering status of DisCos, showed 8,045,565 metered customers out of 12,749,789 active customers, a national metering rate of 63.10 per cent, up from 62.37 per cent in July, when 7,903,819 of 12,671,795 active customers were metered.

The DisCos metered 141,746 customers in August, compared with 159,980 in July.

Four DisCos are in the green band, with metering rates of 70 per cent and above: Eko (89.64 per cent), Ikeja (87.74 per cent), Abuja (82.62 per cent) and Port Harcourt (71.00 per cent).

Benin (64.41 per cent), Ibadan (59.23 per cent) and Enugu (52.40 per cent) fall in the amber band, between 50 per cent and 69 per cent.
