The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved contracts worth over N5.6 billion for development projects covering education, healthcare, environmental sanitation, housing and airport infrastructure across the state.

The approvals were made during the 18th Council meeting of 2026, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Yola, on Friday.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, said the Council approved a contract worth N176,806,676.13 for the procurement of instructional materials and the printing of non-security documents for public secondary schools across the state.

The Council also approved N212,889,500 for the construction of 100 heavy-duty metal waste bins to be installed at various locations within the state capital.

The project is part of the state government’s efforts to sustain urban renewal and improve environmental sanitation, particularly in Yola.

In the health sector, the Council approved two major contracts for the General Hospital, Michika.

The first, valued at N295,739,330.17, is for the construction of a CT scan block at the hospital.

The second contract, worth N1,337,763,877.89, is for the procurement of a 32-slice CT scan machine to strengthen diagnostic services and improve healthcare delivery.

The Council further approved N249,909,947.99 for the construction of a multipurpose community hall in Prambe, with a completion period of six months.

Similarly, a contract worth N1,429,449,878.78 was approved for the construction of a new Deputy Governor’s Office complex.

According to the commissioner, the project is intended to address the shortage of office space at the existing complex, which has necessitated the relocation of the Deputy Governor’s office to Government House.

The Council also approved N1,898,908,266.91 for the construction of a new VIP lounge, popularly known as the Presidential Lounge, at Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola.

The facility is expected to provide improved amenities to meet the requirements of dignitaries and other VIP passengers using the airport.

The commissioner explained that the approvals reflect the Fintiri administration’s commitment to implementing development-oriented projects aimed at improving public services, strengthening healthcare delivery, promoting environmental sanitation, and upgrading infrastructure across Adamawa State.
