The police in Oyo State have arrested three male suspects over alleged offences linked to homosexuality in Saki area of the state.
Police spokesman DSP Ayanlade Olayinka who disclosed this in Ibadan yesterday said they were arrested by operatives of the Monitoring Unit in Saki Operational Base following an intelligence-led operation aimed at investigating allegations of unnatural sexual conducts.
He said the operation followed intelligence received by the command on September 29 concerning the alleged involvement of a group of individuals in the said conduct.
Those arrested suspects were identified as Ayomide Lukeman, aged 22; Shuaib Aremu, aged 22; and Abdul-Rasheed Mufeed, aged 23.
He said, “In the course of preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly admitted to engaging in homosexual acts.
“Two of the suspects reportedly confessed to having had carnal knowledge of the third suspect on multiple occasions, with the latter allegedly regarded by them as their “wife.”
“Investigations are, however, ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine whether any other individuals are connected to the matter.”
Against this backdrop, the command has reiterated its commitment to conducting investigations professionally, impartially, and in accordance with the law.
