Zamfara State deputy governor, Malam Mani Mummuni Masamar Mudi, yesterday received the national director of the Malaria Consortium Programme, Dr Chibuzo Oguama, in his office in Gusau, the state capital.
Mummuni expressed delight over the distribution of 3.5 million mosquito nets, promotion of community participation in malaria prevention and control initiatives, raising public awareness on malaria prevention, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, and provision of technical assistance to strengthen malaria control interventions by the consortium.
He said Oguama and other members of the delegation were in Zamfara for several days on official engagements.
The deputy governor expressed appreciation for the continued support of Malaria Consortium in strengthening malaria prevention and control efforts across the state.
He particularly acknowledged the organisation’s contributions in the areas of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC), training of healthcare providers to improve delivery of malaria prevention and treatment services.
Mummuni emphasised that the state government remained committed to sustaining partnerships with organisations and development partners whose interventions help improve healthcare services and the well-being of the people.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to strengthen the state’s healthcare system and intensify efforts towards malaria prevention and control.
The deputy governor, on behalf of the state government and the people of the state, welcomed the delegation to Zamfara and wished them a successful and hitch-free engagement throughout their stay.
