Kwara Central senatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Abdul Aiyelabegan has donated a sports wheelchair to Salman AbdulSoma who had long been in confinement due to lack of mobility aids.
Aiyelabegan said the humanitarian gesture was to complement his various public-spirited interventions to improve the well-being of his people.
He said, “The development came against the backdrop of the plea for support to aid the mobility of the boy who was said to have been restricted to confinement as a result of no mobility aids to facilitate movement.”
Handing over the device to the beneficiary at his residence at Okekere in Ilorin, the senatorial candidate urged the beneficiary not to despair by the constraints of his challenges, saying the choice of the donated device was to facilitate his easy participation in adapted sporting activities towards enhancing his social, mental, emotional and physical capacities.
He expressed his readiness to sponsor the boy to school, stressing that education is critical to the realisation of his latent potential.
“We are assuring you of our readiness to return the boy to school. Just like everyone, he has the potential to attain his desired goals, but this can only be achieved with quality education through which his latent talents will be unlocked and nurtured,” he added.
Appreciating the gesture, the relatives of the beneficiary took turns to applaud the Aiyelabegan, describing him as a compassionate leader who gives maximum priority to the wellness of the people.
