All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia Central in last Saturday’s National Assembly election, Sam Onuigbo has alleged that his party’s name was omitted on the result sheet.

Onuigbo stated this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the election in Umuahia, the state capital, saying consequently his scores in the election was shambolic.

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency noted that it is disheartening that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed in its statutory duty of ensuring free, fair and credible poll.

He said this made a mess of his votes at the mercy of the presiding officers, “who chose either to leave out the results, record it among the invalid votes or in rare cases create a column with their own hands to enter it.”

The legislator argued that it is worthy to mention that the commission uploaded his name on its portal as the party’s candidate for the election last December after the Court of Appeal affirmed it in November.

According to him, “The question now remains why the omission on the result sheet,” adding that the puzzle should be resolved by the commission and the leadership of the party for not making effort to correct the anomaly on time.

Onuigbo, who explained that he was consulting with his attorneys on the appropriate response to the omission, added that he rejected in its totality, “the strange figure of 7,997 votes that was manufactured and allotted to me”.

He thanked the people of the constituencies, the media, his friends, associates and indeed “Ndi Abia and Nigerians for the unquantifiable love shown me before now and during the election despite various attempts to pull me down.”
