Kogi Guber: Braimoh, Mubarak, Omale Pick AA, NNPP, YPP Tickets

Abuja-based real estate developer, Mr. Olayinka Braimoh has emerged flag bearer of Action Alliance (AA) for the November 11th governorship election in Kogi State.

Announcing results of the primary election held at Reverton Hotel Lokoja, chairman of Kogi State AA electoral committee, James Benebe declared that Mr. Braimoh defeated his closest rival, Simon Ogwu by 101 votes against four votes.

One of the aspirants, Haruna Adah Sylvester had stepped down for Mr. Braimoh, saying he believes in his outstanding leadership qualities.

In a similar development, Alhaji Musa Mubarak has been announced as the winner of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Kogi governorship primary election conducted in Lokoja on Sunday.

Mubarak, who is popularly known as ‘Emperor’ scored a total of 607 votes to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Felix Oni, who scored 44 votes, while Hassan Bawa scored three votes.

Three aspirants, ator Adbulrahman Abubakar, Alhaji Aliyu Ali and Mr Kamaldeen Yakubu, stepped down from the race to support Mubarak.

Similarly, Dr Samson Omale, emerged the winner of the governorship primary election of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Kogi.

LEADERSHIP reports that Dr Omale was unanimously affirmed and adopted as the YPP’s sole candidate.

Chairman of the screening committee of Kogi YPP primary governorship election, David Komolafe, said Omale had been duly screened and certified okay to pick the party’s governorship ticket.

 

He said a total of 184 delegates from the 21 local government areas of Kogi were accredited to vote with respect to the party’s Constitution.

 

Komolafe, who doubles as the state’s secretary of the party, said that the only other aspirant, Mrs Funmilayo Olumodeji voluntarily stepped down for Omale earlier in the day.

 

The parties’ primary elections were conducted free and credible and it was monitored by security agencies and Representatives of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
