The new executive secretary of Niger State Contributory Health Agency (Nicare), Sulayman Abu-bakr, has assumed duty with promise of exemplary leadership.
He was received by the state commissioner for health, Dr. Bello Tukur, ministry directors and staff.
The commissioner, who emphasised the collective duty to build a ‘New Niger’, stressed the importance of everyone’s contribution to ensuring the ministry meets its obligations to the people of Niger State.
He also highlighted the governor’s concern about residents seeking medical care outside the state due to perceived inadequacies, emphasising the imperative to enhance NiCare’s services to curtail medical tourism and provide affordable, quality healthcare locally.
The ES assured the staff of his commitment to exemplary leadership and unwavering support to drive the agency.
He assured the team that his administration would prioritise institution strengthening, fostering innovation and creativity to enhance insurance coverage in the state.
He also expressed readiness to collaborate with the team in achieving his overarching goals of ensuring equitable access to basic healthcare services for all.
