Afrilabs Announces Change In Top Leadership

An innovation-focused organisation, Afrilabs, has announced a change in its top leadership position to support its growth and development over the next decade.

The organisation was formerly led by Anna Ekeledo, who positioned it as a top contender for supporting and developing Africa’s digital space.

With her insights, intuition and acumen, Afrilabs has expanded from 40 hubs to 520 innovation hubs and now operates in 53 African countries.

She transformed Afrilabs into the largest and most influential network in Africa, recognised globally as a voice for African innovation, and has launched a bold, long-term goal to contribute $1 trillion to Africa’s digital economy.A statement by the firm said that a transition committee is set in motion to select the next executive director, including trustees, board members (past and present) and community representatives.

“Anna Ekeledo will remain involved through Afrilabs advisory council to ensure strategic and institutional memory while maintaining stability as leadership changes,” the statement said.

It added that the selection process is overseen by Afrilabs’ board, as it’s seen as transparent, structured and value-driven.

“Afrilabs emphasises shared leadership and community ownership,” the statement said, adding that the recruitment process seeks to find a candidate who can maintain and manage an established, strong foundation, expand Afrilabs’ impact across Africa, strengthen global partnerships, and drive inclusive, innovation-led economic development. Recruitment will begin in the coming weeks, and stakeholders will be updated and informed as it progresses.
