Kebbi State Office of National Agency For Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued five children from traffickers and handed them over to the state government.

The agency’s commander, Misbahu Iya Kaura, who handed over the children to the government at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Monday night, said the victims were rescued by their officials from the leader of the abductors, Pastor Ayuba in Edo State on his way to Benin Republic with the children on the pretext of providing education for them in Benin Republic.

Kaura said Ayuba told NAPTIP officials that it was with the consent of the victims’ parents that he took them away and intended to travel to Benin Republic to enrol them into better schools t.

” This is how they convince people to carry their children in pretext to enrol them into schools abroad but ended up abusing them or put them into slavery,” Iya Kaura added.

The NAPTIP boss informed the government that the principal suspect, Pastor Ayuba was arrested and would soon be charged to court after investigation.
