Agwatashi youth forum in the Akwatashi community of Obi local government in Nasarawa State has applauded President Bola Tinubu for finding their community suitable to cite the federal/state government food security project.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Samuel Iyima, the chairman of the Agwatashi youth forum, and made available to Vanguard on Wednesday in Lafia.
The Youth leader of Agwatashi said that citing the over 10,000 hectares of land in Agwatashi for farming, which will prevent the community’s youth from participating in youth restiveness, is a welcome development.
The community youth also pledged to support and defend the project against saboteurs and insecurity, calling on the president to replicate such projects across communities to increase youth engagement in agriculture and boost food security in the country.
“The People of Agwatashi (Olosoho) Community want to thank the Nasarawa State and Federal Governments under the able Leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding the Agwatashi community worthy of citing the Food Security Project.
“As a community, we equally wish to support the Unanimous decision of our traditional ruler, his royal highness, Dr Umar Abubakar Apeshi, Osoho of Olosoho, and our Critical stakeholders for embracing this lofty project.
“We wish to assure the Nasarawa State and Federal Governments of our unalloyed support in carrying out this Project. If they need more of such lands, we have more than enough to offer
The youth leader noted that the Agwatashi community in Obi local government is not in dispute with its settlers over its land, noting that the land in question is their ancestral heritage from time immemorial well over 500 years ago.
The group assured the federal government that it would defend the project and ensure its success, knowing its economic importance to both the governments and the people in the community.
“This land is our lifeblood, our heritage and our Identity.
“Agwatashi land is our home, livelihood, and legacy, bequeathed to us by our forefathers. We will ensure the project and policy of the federal government on food security succeed in our land against all odds”, the youth group stated.
