In the face of the ongoing feud between passenger Comfort Emmanson and the IbomAir management over alleged security breach and attendant melee at the Lagos Airport, Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has sued for peace among the parties, pointing out that the two parties at the centre of the dispute remain citizens of the State.
He, therefore, announced plans to support Miss Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air, to assuage their pains even as he enjoined Akwa Ibom indigenes against exacerbating the crisis out of proportion.
Although he did not disclose the nature of the support and compensation for the parties, he stressed the need for harmony to prevail between corporate and private citizens of a State known for her trademark peace and tranquility.
Speaking during his grand reception at his home local government area of Nsit Ubium on Saturday, the governor noted that “both Comfort Emmanson and the the airline belong to Akwa Ibom State, hence should be supported.”
Speaking in his local Ibibio dialect, he advised that Akwa Ibom people should not join the fray in apportioning blames either to the airline or the passenger, irrespective of who might have made the mistake.
“We will continue to support our flagship airline, the Ibom Air. Every Akwa Ibom person should be proud of the airline which is flying our colours.
“Our money is invested in Ibom Air, so you should be proud of the airline. If there was any crisis, do not join issues with others who are spoilers because they don’t love good things. Whatever had transpired, we would solve the problem. It was a small mistake, both parties belong to us. The lady is our daughter. When two people fight, there is always the third person to separate the fight,” Governor Eno stressed.
