A group of 7 Aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), forthcoming, have called for the immediate and total cancellation of the fraudulent delegate congress held on 21st June 2025, across the 12 wards of AMAC.
The group described the process as a blatant subversion of internal democracy, amid a betrayal of the trust of the grassroots party faithful in AMAC.
During a press conference convened by 7 Aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), forthcoming prose.
The undersigned aspirants and loyal members of the APC in AMAC are as follows: Hon Yamawo Ishaku Τanko, Hon Samuel Joseph Gainako, Hon Abdulhakeem Babale Bello, Hon Barr. Dauda Zhidu, Hon Jennifer Ozioma Nnamudi, Hon Saeed Alhassan Haske, and Hon Barr Sylvanus Tanko Piwoyi, respectively, make the following clear and urgent demands:
Speaking on behalf of the groups, Hon Yamawo Ishaku Τanko said, what transpired on Saturday, 21st June 2025, under the guise of a delegate congress in the twelve (12) electoral wards of AMAC, was not a congress, but a scripted charade designed to favor a select individual and destroy the foundational structure of the party in the FCT.
He noted that no authentic delegate congress took place across AMAC, contrary to reports being circulated. Instead, the entire process was deliberately manipulated and grossly compromised.
Tanko further said that the committee sent by our party’s national secretariat arrived with a predetermined list of preferred delegates, leaving out genuine party members and aspirants who have toiled and sacrificed for the growth of the APC in AMAC.
Their mission was clear: to short-change all other eligible contestants, thereby paving the way for a predetermined outcome in the upcoming chairmanship primaries scheduled for 25th June, 2015, in AMAC and the other five Area Councils, he said.”
Hon. Tanko stated,” We were shocked to discover that many of these returned as delegates from the compromised congress are recently returned members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).”
According to him, these individuals who rejoined the APC a few months ago were never part of the structures that built this party.
”It is now evident that the plan is to install the current Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, as APC flag bearer using these imposed delegates as manipulation tools, he said.
We ask: ”How can individuals who only recently decamped from the PDP now dominate a critical process meant to reflect the will of counted APC members? He added how a party built on justice and inclusivity can reward defectors while punishing its core loyalists.”
This move is an Insult to the APC’s founding fathers and a betrayal of our principles of trust, sincerity of purpose, Inclusion, Internal democracy, and reward for loyalty and service.
We are deeply concerned that elements within the APC’s national leadership have been compromised, undermining the integrity of the party’s structure in AMAC and the FCT.
This conduct directly contradicts the Renewed Hope Agenda of our President, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has remained a symbol of democratic justice and equity.
We stand firmly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and wholeheartedly support his Renewed Hope Agenda. However, some individuals within the party’s national secretariat appear determined to destroy the President’s support base in the FCT, which will have dire consequences if not urgently addressed.
The party organises a fresh, free, fair, and credible delegate congress, monitored by neutral and trustworthy officials not affiliated with any aspirant or external interest.
