Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba North Senatorial District have insisted that the outcome of the party’s primary election must be respected, warning against any attempt to alter the declared result.
The group, working alongside the national leadership of the Conference of APC Support Groups, expressed support for Hon. Muhammad Kabir Bello, who they said emerged as the winner of the senatorial primary conducted under the supervision of the All Progressives Congress election committee.
They also congratulated Senators Haruna Manu and David Jimkuta on their emergence as candidates in Taraba Central and Taraba South, respectively, describing the process as transparent and in line with party guidelines.
In a statement signed by Hon. Abubakar Umar Ibrahim, Coordinator of Taraba North Stakeholders, and Dr Bilal Galadima, General Secretary of the Conference of APC Support Groups, the stakeholders alleged that some interests within the party were attempting to overturn the outcome in Taraba North.
They warned that any attempt to tamper with the result would constitute a breach of internal democracy and could further deepen tensions within the party ahead of the general elections.
The stakeholders called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to stand by its monitoring report and protect the credibility of the process.
They also urged party leaders at the national level to resist what they described as undue pressure and ensure that the “authentic winner” is recognised in line with the party’s electoral guidelines.
In addition, they appealed to the Taraba State authorities to remain neutral and avoid any interference in the party’s internal affairs.
According to them, the will of the delegates in Taraba North must not be undermined, and they warned that any attempt to subvert it would be met with lawful and democratic resistance.
The stakeholders stressed that internal democracy remains key to the stability of the APC, insisting that respect for the people’s choice is non-negotiable.
