NAqF president, Chinoye Daphey Aliyu, made the announcement yesterday at a press conference in Abuja, saying the initiative aims to elevate coaching standards and nurture grassroots swimming talent across the nation.

According to her the four-day program will provide participants with essential knowledge in modern coaching techniques, water safety, stroke mechanics, and training methodologies.

“Our goal is to build a pool of certified coaches aligned with our strategic development initiatives, ultimately contributing to Nigeria’s success in swimming on both national and international stages,” stated the federation’s president.

The course is targeted at swimming coaches, physical education teachers, trainers, and lifeguards. Participants will benefit from hands-on training with certified swimming experts, gaining access to contemporary coaching methodologies that enhance their career prospects.

Additionally, the course aims to identify and nurture young swimming talents, promoting a safer aquatic environment through increased water safety awareness.

The NAqF highlighted the importance of well-trained coaches in raising the overall standard of swimming competitions. The federation aims to inspire confidence among parents and guardians to encourage children’s participation in swimming and to foster collaboration between schools, sports clubs, and community programs.

“We believe that by empowering coaches, we will strengthen the swimming culture in Nigeria and position our athletes as competitive forces in global aquatic sports,” the president added.

The federation expressed gratitude to its partners, including the National Sports Commission, for their support in making this program possible. Interested participants are encouraged to register early, as slots are limited. Further details on registration can be found on the Nigeria Aquatics Federation’s official website and social media channels.
