In a foiled attack by the suspected Lakurawa terrorist in Arewa local government area of Kebbi State, military personnel have arrested one suspected Lakurawa bandit and recovered 47 cows.
An indigene of the area who confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Birnin Kebbi yesterday evening disclosed that the incident occurred on March 19 when troops of 1 Battalion were working alongside forest rangers, who came under an attack by a group of terrorists suspected to be Lakurawa bandits at Kunchi Baba village.
The source added that the troops responded promptly, forcing the attackers to retreat towards the Niger Republic border and during the battle, one suspected Lakurawa bandit was arrested, and 47 stolen cows and goats were recovered.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the suspect and the recovered stolen cows and goats are currently in military custody.
The troops, however, promised to continue to prevent criminal elements from operating freely within border communities.
