A modern training School of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), is to be established in Bichi local government area of Kano North Senatorial District courtesy of the deputy senate president, Senator Barau Jibrin.
This was disclosed yesterday when the comptroller-general of the NIS, Wuraola Adepoju, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy President of the Senate at the National Assembly, Abuja.
Senator Barau had while responding to the request of the NIS boss, said he would facilitate the establishment of the school for the training and retraining of the personnel of the service.
In a statement issued by the special adviser to the deputy president of the senate on media and publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau said he was contacted some weeks ago about the possibility of establishing a modern NIS training school in Bichi, Kano North.
“Everybody knows the importance of the NIS to our country. The service should be supported by all and sundry.
“It is against this background that I want to assure you that my office will facilitate the establishment of the training centre from A to Z. By God’s grace, we will ensure that it is constructed and equipped for the training and retraining of the NIS personnel,” he said.
When established, he said the training school will place the NIS in the best position to perform optimally. The centre would be located in the Bichi local government area of Kano North Senatorial District.
The NIS boss had solicited the assistance of the deputy senate president towards the establishment of the training school.
