Bauchi, SMEDAN To Scale Up SMEs Activities

Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has commended the commissioner for cooperatives, small and medium enterprises development, Hon Sadiq Hamisu Shira, for his tireless efforts and constant consultation with critical stakeholders for the development of SMEs in the state.

The governor spoke when he received in audience, the director-general of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Mr Charles Odii, at the Bauchi Government Lodge yesterday.

Mohammed said his administration would support the commissioner to consolidate on the partnership between the state government and SMEDAN on programmes that would create jobs, reduce poverty and address youth restiveness.

The governor said SMEs were important for economic growth and development, regional development, flexibility, social impact and diversification of the economy.

On his part Odii appreciated the efforts of the governor in strengthening SMEs activities by providing them with technical and financial services.

The SMEDAN DG also acknowledged the empowerment programme launched by the governor across the local government areas of Bauchi and assured him of his agency’s support for more interventions in the state for the benefit of the people.
