Dr. OLUSEGUN K. AHMADU was born on 3rd December, 1955 at the Methodist Manse, Oyo (his wife was born at the same facility a couple of years later) in the old Western Region, now known as Oyo State to Alhaji (Chief) Amusa Ajibabi & Alhaja AwawuAsande Omoriyeba AHMADU (both of blessed memory).

EARLY CHILDHOOD: From a very young age Olusegun Kayode AjijolaAtanda Ashamu exhibited sterling character traits which became pronounced as he grew into young adulthood.

At a very tender age, in view of the high premium his father placed on formal education for all his children, young Ajijola was sent off to a prestigious boarding primary school- Children’s Home School, Ibadan, where his older sisters were already schooling.

After a short stint in the school and because of his obvious maturity and perceived leadership qualities, he was taken to another prestigious boarding primary school – Children’s Boarding School, Oshogbo, where he was given the responsibility of looking after his younger brother and sister, who were new to primary school life away from home.

He played the anticipated role of a big brother to his younger siblings during school terms and while on holiday.

SECONDARY SCHOOL AND TERTIARY EDUCATION:

As a brilliant young boy, Olusegun gained admission to the great school, Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo in January 1969 to join the family school that Olivet was to the Ahmadu Clan.

He distinguished himself academically, socially and morally. He was one of the Chapel Prefects in his days at Olivet. He passed out of Olivet with flying coloursand immediately gained admission by Prelim entry, having completed his secondary education in 4 1/2 years, courtesy of the newly introduced School Year and therefrom, gained admission three months after his school certificate examination. (a rare feat in those days) to study ESTATE MANAGEMENT, a 5-year Course at the highly prestigious UNIVERSITY OF IFE (now known as OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY).
He graduated with a 2nd Class Upper Division (2.1).

A few years later, he attended the University of Ibadan for his MBA and recently at 69, he bagged his PhD from Lead City University, Ibadan. A sure sign of a resilient, deliberate and focus oriented gentleman.

WORK AND LIFE AFTER GRADUATION:

After graduation, Olusegun took part in the mandatory NYSC programmebetween 1979 and 1980 in Bauchi, BAUCHI State.

He stayed back in Bauchi at the request of the State Government to complete a World Bank Urban Renewal Project for a while before returning home to Ibadan.

In Ibadan, he worked with ONAKANMI & PARTNERS as an Estate Manager for a few years during which time he did his MBA.

He joined HONEYWELL GROUP after his MBA and moved to Lagos. He served in various capacities under the HONEYWELL GROUP, from 1986 to 2007.

He was Chief Executive Officer to two major companies in the Group and moved on to the position of Group Executive Director, Corporate Affairs.

He established his own company offering services which include Building Construction, Mechanical & Electrical Installation and Maintenance.

THE MMA2 PROJECT :

One of the highest points of his career was the Chairmanship of the Project Implementation Committee that supervised the construction and development of the peerless Murtala Mohammed Airport Domestic Terminal ( christened MMA2 ) in 2006 by the BI-COURTNEY GROUP with Dr Wale Babalakin , OFR SAN , as the Executive Chairman.

FAMILY LIFE:

Olusegun believes, for all intents and purposes, that FAMILY IS EVERYTHING! He believes absolutely in healthy family relationships. He is the rallying point of the extended family union.

MARRIAGE:

Olusegun got married to his soul mate, TITILAYOMI, on the 15th of December 1984. They had met when she was in secondary school. The marriage is blessed with lovely children and grandchildren.

SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY LIFE:

Olusegun is a highly sociable personality. He has so much interest and energy for mixing and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and ages.

He was the General Secretary of the Rotary Club , District 912 ( Ibadan) in the early 80s when he was still under 30 years old!
The seed planted in him by the Rotary Ideals was cropped later in life.

He is today, the President of The Yoruba Leadership and Peace Initiative( The Yoruba Initiative) a pan Yoruba organization where opinions are raised and papers are published for public consumption . This organization forms a formidable think -tank for a better and more coordinated region and nation.

Still feeding his passion for the rapid growing and development of his environment, he convoked the Igbimo Idagbasoke Oyo ( Igbimo Oyo) , comprising Oyo and Afijio Communities. His insatiable desire for rapid social/ cultural transformation of Yoruba Land, he convened the AGBAJO OWO COLLECTIVE to complement other efforts of the pressure groups.

Olusegun is a Life Member of Ikoyi Club 1938 and a member of The Ikeja Golf Club.

He sits on the Boards of a number of companies taking firm decisions that impact the services of such companies.

In whichever community he finds himself, he ensures that he makes a positive impact. In his neighborhood in Lagos, he has served as Chairman of the Residents’ Association.

SOCIO-POLITICAL OUTLOOK

Olusegun is passionate about progress for his dear country Nigeria and for his part of the country, Yorubaland. He spends time and energy thinking alongside like minds of how the country can be made better.

OLIVET HEIGHTS:

Perhaps one can conveniently declare that the name of the school, OLIVET is strongly etched in Olusegun’s DNA. He has carried the banner of Olivet proudly everywhere he went since leaving school. There is no wonder then that he, alongside like-minded ex-Olivetians put heads together to lift the Old Students’ Association (NOSA), from the doldrum it was by injecting life into it. This was done by first setting aside a period in 1995 to formally recognize, honour and organize a grand reception in honour of our revered Principal of the school between 1962 to 1972 , Late Revd and Mrs J. B. P. LAFINHAN. A more concerted effort was made thereafter to continue to nurture the Association to the level it is today.
Olusegun was the National President of his school Association for 5 and a half years. His zeal for the progress of the school and NOSA is unquenchable.

PHILANTHROPIC STANCE

He is a committed philanthropist and a lover of humanity. He gives silently and supports those who are not able to give anything in return, always casting his bread upon the waters.
He is a devout Muslim.
