The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC), Borno State chapter, has condemned the attack by suspected Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents on the Federal Polytechnic hostel within the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Monguno.

NANS, in a statement yesterday in Maiduguri by its chairman in Borno, Comrade Muhammad Shariff Hussaini, said the tragic incident, which claimed the lives of three innocent students, was a heartbreaking assault on humanity, education and the future of the nation.

NANS prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgives the departed souls and grants them Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.

NANS said it viewed “this barbaric act as a cowardly and senseless attack against innocent students whose only aspiration is to acquire knowledge and contribute positively to society.” The association added that such acts of terror were unacceptable and must be condemned unequivocally by all peace-loving Nigerians and the international community.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the management of the institution, the government and people of Borno State, and every individual affected by this unfortunate tragedy. We also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured and ask Almighty Allah (SWT) to comfort all those mourning this painful loss.

“Furthermore, we commend the sacrifices and resilience of our gallant security personnel and urge all relevant security agencies to intensify efforts toward safeguarding educational institutions across Borno State and the North-East.

Schools must remain safe havens for learning and development and should never become targets of terrorism”, the statement read.

It added that NANS Borno State axis reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advocating for the safety, security, and welfare of Nigerian students, and called on all stakeholders, including government authorities, security agencies, traditional leaders, and community members, to strengthen collaboration in the fight against insurgency and all forms of violent extremism.

” May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to protect Borno State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, grant lasting peace to our land, and restore hope to all affected communities, the statement further read.
