The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) has expressed concerns over the growing socioeconomic challenges, particularly food insecurity, economic hardship and gender-based violence which continue to impact a large portion of Nigeria’s population.
These issues were among key topics discussed during the 2025 National Pastors’ Conference held at the LCCN headquarters in Numan, Adamawa State.
The conference focused on improving human welfare and fostering social justice.
Speaking with newsmen, the Archbishop of LCCN, Most Rev (Dr) Musa Panti Filibus, emphasised that Nigerians should not be suffering as they are now given the country’s abundant resources.
He urged the federal government to fulfill its responsibility in alleviating the burden of its citizens and improving their quality of life.
The pastors at the conference underscored the urgent need for the government to support local farmers through subsidies and enhanced security to boost agricultural productivity and tackle food insecurity.
The church reaffirmed its commitment to combating gender-based violence, promising to continue its advocacy and pastoral counseling to address related social issues.
Amid current national challenges, the pastors resolved to continue their mission as ambassadors of Christ, preaching the gospel of peace and salvation.
They also emphasised the role of pastors as catalysts for unity and peaceful coexistence across denominations.
The conference focused on the importance of prayer in pastoral ministry and rooted biblical principles. They called for renewed focus on discipleship to address issues such as pride, selfishness and immorality.
