In a statement issued on Sunday, Senator Dafinone paid glowing tribute to the late President, recalling his tenures as both Military Head of State (1983–1985) and democratically elected President (2015–2023), noting that Buhari’s leadership was anchored on anti-corruption, national security, and infrastructure development.

“Above all, he stood for discipline, integrity, and the enduring unity of our country,” Dafinone said, emphasising the former President’s principled style of governance.

While mourning the loss, the Delta Central Senator called on Nigerians to celebrate Buhari’s legacy, which he described as one that should inspire current and future leaders.

“As we mourn, we also celebrate a life marked by patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. May his legacy continue to inspire generations,” he added.

Senator Dafinone extended his condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, praying for the peaceful repose of the former President’s soul.

“I received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, former Head of State and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“President Buhari first served our nation as Military Head of State from 1983 to 1985, and then as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023.

“His legacy of service will be remembered for his strong stance on anti-corruption, his focus on national security, and his commitment to infrastructure development. Above all, he stood for discipline, integrity, and the enduring unity of our country.

“As we mourn, we also celebrate a life marked by patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. May his legacy continue to inspire current and future generations of leaders.

“On behalf of the good people of Delta Central Senatorial District, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” Senator Dafinone stated.
