The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin has officially flagged off the distribution of federal government rice palliatives to the northwest geopolitical zone.
Heading the presidential committee, Senator Barau yesterday in Kano called on Nigerians to rally together in support of President Bola Tinubu to solve Nigeria’s problems.
He explained that Tinubu became president in a very difficult period where the world is facing a lot of economic hardship and difficulties with Nigeria not an exemption.
“We all know that from the beginning, President Bola Tinubu started with economic challenges not peculiar to Nigeria but a worldwide incident.
“The global economy is grossly affected by a lot of unfortunate events that include wars like the Ukraine versus Russia as well as the Israel/Palestine,” he said.
He said the situation made the president to fund programmes that will alleviate the difficulties through the introduction of distribution of palliatives.
He noted that the distribution faced some lapses and had to be restructured in such a way that the distribution will reach those in the grassroots.
After commending the president for the programme, the deputy senate president also appealed to Nigerians to come together to support President Bola Tinubu in solving the country’s problems.
“This is how it is done all over the world; people come together to solve their problems irrespective of their political, religious or geopolitical differences; Nigeria cannot be an exception,” he stated.
Meanwhile, 19 trucks of rice are to be distributed across Kano to various beneficiaries.
